The Triglav National Park is the only Slovenian national park. It was named after Triglav, the highest mountain in the heart of the park, which is also the highest summit in Slovenia (2864 m). <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

An interesting fact is that the mountain is a true national symbol and it is featured on the national coat of arms and the flag. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is one of the oldest European parks; the first protection dates back to 1924 when the Alpine Conservation Park was founded<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
