So without further waiting, we give you our list of cities for an ultimate experience, but friendly for your pocket.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><b>1) Djakovo<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Djakovo, commonly known as <\/span><b>\u2018the heart of Slavonia\u2019<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is the first city on our round trip list. The centre of Djakovo is Strossmayer Square, surrounded by cathedral, \u2018corso\u2019, bishop\u2019s court and seminary. The cathedral is probably the most distinctive symbol of Djakovo, more than 150 years old. We could say that Djakovo is <\/span><b>the town of J.J. Strossmayer<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, because he has his own sculpture, a museum, and even a park dedicated to him which every year serves as a venue for the festival <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Djakovacki vezovi.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> This year the festival celebrates 50 years of long tradition &#8211; the folklore groups from all parts of Croatia present their costumes and perform traditional songs and dances. We could say that this city has a rich cultural history, considering the fact that some of the today\u2019s settlements existed even 8000 years ago. The main monument of this city is <\/span><b>old baroque Brod Fortress<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which served as a defense from Turkish invasion. Today, on the other hand, makes a great tourist attraction, especially because of its characteristic star-like shape. On the main city square you will find another important monument, the house of the famous Croatian female writer Ivana Brlic-Mazuranic whose books have been entertaining children for generations. Similar to Djakovo, Slavonski Brod also has the so-called <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brodsko kolo<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> manifestation which organizes beauty pageant for the most beautiful Croatian girl in traditional costumes. It is a city with a very rich architectural heritage. Vinkovci are today a spatially large town with several <\/span><b>large squares and long streets<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which were the basis of the urban development. While strolling through the streets of Vinkovci, don\u2019t miss to visit the iconic<\/span><b> Church of Saints Eusebius and Polion and the City Museum of Vinkovci<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> where you can see everything you would like to know about history and customs of local Slavonian people. You thought Vinkovci would go without a festival? Along with Djakovacki vezovi and Brodsko kolo, <\/span><b><i>Vinkovacke jeseni<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are probably the most popular one. It is held each year during September, in the beginning of autumn &#8211; thus the name \u2018jeseni\u2019 which in Croatian means \u2018autumns\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>How to get to Vinkovci:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>By bus<\/strong> from Slavonski Brod \u2192 \u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/Traveling.com\/en\/bus-slavonski-brod-to-vinkovci\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Slavonski Brod &#8211; Vinkovci<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>By train<\/strong> from Slavonski Brod: This is option is slightly cheaper (<strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">6-7 \u20ac<\/span><\/strong>) and it takes around 35-50 minutes to reach Vinkovci.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><b>4) Vukovar<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vukovar is very special Croatian town and it is very important for Croatian history. Some like to call it<\/span><b> \u2018the heroic city\u2019 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">because it suffered during the Civil War in 1990s and to this day the consequences are visible. Nonetheless, Vukovar still has a lot to offer and to see. The historic baroque centre of Vukovar consists of the Dr. Franjo Tu\u0111man Street, Old Vukovar on the right bank of Vuka, and Josip Juraj Strossmayer Street and the County in Novi Vukovar on the left bank of Vuka. The symbol of the city is definitely <\/span><b>Vukovar water tower<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, though demolished during \u00a0the war, it represents the constant fight and courage. Also don\u2019t miss to <\/span><b>visit the Eltz Manor<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0&#8211; once a house of German noblemen, today a part of City Museum of Vukovar. This is also a place where popular <a href=\"https:\/\/Traveling.com\/en\/blog\/festivals-croatia\/\">Vukovar film fest<\/a> takes place.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>How to get to Vukovar:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>By bus<\/strong> from Vinkovci \u2192 \u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/Traveling.com\/en\/bus-vinkovci-to-vukovar\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vinkovci &#8211; Vukovar<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you opt for train from Vinkovci, the ticket will cost you a little more than <strong>1.7\u20ac<\/strong> (13 kunas) and the ride will take around 40 mins<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><b>5) Osijek<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And we will finish our Slavonian trip in <\/span><b>the largest and most vivid Slavonian city<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Osijek is known for its <\/span><b>baroque Old Town<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tvrdja<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) which definitely puts Osijek on the first place in terms of best preserved baroque buildings in Croatia. But, when the night falls down, Tvrdja becomes the centre of \u00a0wild nightlife and there is everything for everyone. If you\u2019re looking to take spectacular photos, then definitely <\/span><b>take a walk along Drava river<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> up to the Bridge for pedestrians and once you finish your tour, treat yourself with one of traditional Croatian dishes in one of the boat-restaurants on Drava. Osijek is also known as <\/span><b>the \u2018greenest\u2019 Croatian city <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with 17 parks in total, so there is a chance for you to do a picnic and rest a little bit after the exhausting, but wonderful trip.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>How to get to Osijek:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>By bus<\/strong> from Vukovar bus terminal, the price of a single ticket will cost you 15 kunas (<strong>2\u20ac<\/strong>)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>By train<\/strong> from Vukovar, the price is slightly higher &#8211; 36 kunas in one direction (~<strong>5\u20ac<\/strong>)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a class=\"lightbox\" href=\"https:\/\/Traveling.com\/en\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Osijek1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3771\" src=\"https:\/\/Traveling.com\/en\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Osijek1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"740\" srcset=\"https:\/\/d2bgjx2gb489de.cloudfront.net\/gbb-blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/20155539\/Osijek1.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/d2bgjx2gb489de.cloudfront.net\/gbb-blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/20155539\/Osijek1-300x217.jpg 300w, https:\/\/d2bgjx2gb489de.cloudfront.net\/gbb-blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/20155539\/Osijek1-768x555.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><b>Cost of Slavonia round trip<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Transportation: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you do this trip as a bus trip, the transportation will cost your <strong>21\u20ac<\/strong> and if you do it as a train trip, it will be cheaper but it is not a big difference in price (~18.7\u20ac), so it is up to you which type of transport you prefer more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Accommodation and food: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As for the accommodation, you should expect to pay around <strong>20-30\u20ac<\/strong> per night in each of these cities and the food is really not that expensive. You can have decent meals under <strong>4\u20ac<\/strong> in local fast foods, but let\u2019s say you will probably spend 10-15\u20ac.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All in all, this trip should not cost you more than <strong>250\u20ac<\/strong>, but it might be even cheaper if you are traveling in company.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pack your bags guys!
