It is located on the Asian side, around 40 kilometers away from the central parts of the city. This airport serves as a hub for <strong>Pegasus Airlines<\/strong>, Turkey\u2019s no. 1 low-cost carrier, and it is a base for <strong>Borajet<\/strong> and <strong>Turkish Airlines.<\/strong> The airport is symbolically named after the <strong>daughter of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk<\/strong>. The number of the passengers is constantly increasing, with more than <strong>31 million of them in 2017<\/strong>. With shuttle bus you can get to<strong> Taksim<\/strong> or <strong>Kad\u0131k\u00f6y.<\/strong> They depart <strong>every 30 minutes<\/strong> starting from <strong>04:00 am to 01:00 am.<\/strong> The journey can take <strong>from 45 minutes to even 2 hours<\/strong>, depending on the part of the day and traffic. The price of the one-way ticket is <strong>18 TL<\/strong>. This is definitely the easiest and most recommended way to get to the center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Public_Transport\"><\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">Public Transport<\/mark><\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to its size and importance, the city of Istanbul is very well connected to the airport via public transport, too. But since it is a huge city set on two continents, the <strong>public transport is also complex<\/strong>. Here are the most common ways of getting to the center of Istanbul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>NOTE:<\/strong> While staying in Istanbul, you can use the public transportation boarding pass and save some money \u2013 <strong>Istanbul Kart<\/strong>. The easiest way to get the card is at the airport, but in case you forget, you can also make it at Sultanahmet and Emin\u00f6nu. You need to pay a non-refundable 10 TL fee (for the actual card and the service) and an amount of your choice to load onto the card. To reload the card, you can go to newsstands and small shops which offer this service.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Metro_Ferry\"><\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">Metro &amp; Ferry<\/mark><\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2019, <strong>the connection of the airport and the district of Kad\u0131k\u00f6y via Metro is being planned.<\/strong> But still, you can get to terminus at <strong>Tav\u015fantepe<\/strong> which is 10 km away from the airport and reachable by taxi or <strong>bus line E9<\/strong> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.iett.istanbul\/tr\/main\/hatlar\/E-9\/BOSTANCI-SAB%C4%B0HA%20G%C3%96K%C3%87EN%20H.L.-%C4%B0ETT-Otob%C3%BCs-Sefer-Saatleri-ve-Duraklar%C4%B1\">See timetable<\/a>). The last stop is in <strong>Kad\u0131k\u00f6y<\/strong> (district on Asian side) from where you need to catch a ferry to <strong>Karak\u00f6y<\/strong> (European part of Istanbul). From there, you can either take a walk or take a metro (<strong>M2<\/strong>) or some of the numerous trams from <strong>\u015ei\u015fhane<\/strong> to Taksim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Bus_Ferry\"><\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">Bus &amp; Ferry<\/mark><\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also reach the center combining bus and a ferry. First you need to take a <strong>bus line E10<\/strong> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.iett.istanbul\/tr\/main\/hatlar\/E-10\/SAB%C4%B0HA%20G%C3%96K%C3%87EN%20HAVAL%C4%B0MANI%20\/%20KURTK%C3%96Y%20-%20KADIK%C3%96Y-%C4%B0ETT-Otob%C3%BCs-Sefer-Saatleri-ve-Duraklar%C4%B1\">See timetable<\/a>) or<strong> E11<\/strong> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.iett.istanbul\/tr\/main\/hatlar\/E-11\/SAB%C4%B0HA%20G%C3%96K%C3%87EN%20HAVAL%C4%B0MANI%20-%20KADIK%C3%96Y-%C4%B0ETT-Otob%C3%BCs-Sefer-Saatleri-ve-Duraklar%C4%B1\">See timetable<\/a>) to get to Kad\u0131k\u00f6y in order to catch a ferry to Karak\u00f6y. From there, you can continue by using the trams\/metro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Taxi_service\"><\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">Taxi service<\/mark><\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you would like to avoid the crowded public transport, consider taking a taxi but have in mind that <strong>this is the most expensive option<\/strong>. The regular price to get to Taxim is <strong>125 TL<\/strong> and the journey takes <strong>around an hour<\/strong>.
