Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport, commonly known as Makassar Airport, is the main gateway to South Sulawesi and one of the busiest airports in Indonesia. Located around 20 km northeast of Makassar city centre, the airport connects the region to major domestic destinations and select international routes.

Public buses, Trans Sarbagita, operate to and from the city center and are a more affordable way of transport.
