Dubrovnik

Get there early to board stress-free. Even if you have a ticket, the Dubrovnik to Polace ferry can fill up fast in high season. Arriving about 30 minutes before departure gives you time to check in and pick your seat without the rush.
Online booking saves you time. Buying your ticket in advance — for example through Traveling.com (how convenient, right?) — means you can skip the queue at the port, especially helpful during busy summer mornings.
A ticket doesn’t guarantee boarding if you’re late. Ferries on this route can fill up. Booking helps, but showing up on time is key — especially if you want a good seat.
Fast catamaran = smooth ride. Dubrovnik Polace ferry is a passenger-only catamaran, so no cars allowed. It’s quick, efficient, and gets you to Mljet in comfort.
Pack your own snacks and water. Onboard options are basic or sometimes not available, so bring a bottle of water and something to snack on — especially if you’re heading to the National Park right after landing.
Best views? On both sides. Sailing northwest from Dubrovnik, the right side (starboard) gives you sweeping views of the coastline and nearby islands. But don’t overlook the left side (port) — it’s a great spot to catch beautiful views of Mljet as you approach Polače.
