Show up a bit early — ferries can fill up fast. Especially in high season, it's smart to arrive at the port 20–30 minutes before departure to check in, line up, and grab your seat with no rush.
Book ahead and keep things simple. Booking online saves time at the port and gives you peace of mind, especially during summer when tickets sell out quickly.
A ticket doesn’t mean you’re automatically on board. Ferries are first come, first served for seating and capacity. Having a ticket is great — just be sure to get there on time so you’re not left waiting for the next departure.
Fast, comfy catamaran ride. The Pomena Dubrovnik route is served by a passenger-only catamaran, so no cars — but it’s a smooth and scenic ride along the coast.
Grab a snack and some water before boarding. Onboard services are limited or vary by ferry, so it’s a good idea to bring your own snacks and drinks — especially if you’re traveling mid-day.
Where to sit? Right side shows off the island. Sit on the right side (starboard) to get full views of Mljet’s rugged coastline as you depart — it's a great way to soak up the scenery. The left side is still beautiful, with open sea views all the way to Dubrovnik.
