Plan to get to the port early. Split’s ferry terminal gets busy, especially in summer. Arrive at least 30 minutes before departure to check in, line up, and find a good seat without stress.
Book tickets ahead of time to keep it easy. During the travel season, ferry from Split to Mljet can sell out. Booking online through Traveling.com website or app means you can skip the kiosk and board with peace of mind.
A ticket doesn’t reserve your seat — timing matters. Even with a ticket, you’ll need to board Split Pomena ferry early to make sure you get on, especially on popular morning departures. Seats are open seating, first come, first served.
This is a fast catamaran — no cars allowed. Split Pomena route is served by passenger-only catamarans, ideal for smooth, scenic travel. If you need to bring a car, this isn’t the route for it.
Bring water and snacks for the ride. Some ferries don’t have snack bars, or selection is limited. It’s always smart to pack a bottle of water and something small to eat, especially for longer journeys.
Want the best views? Sit on the left side. Heading south from Split to Pomena, the left side (port) offers great views of the Dalmatian coast and approaching islands. But both sides offer lovely sea views — you can’t really go wrong.
